Webmaster/Information/Disclaimer

Unloved Crimes is a virtual unsolved homicide site.  This site uses current homicide investigation techniques, theories, and forensic science to create virtual unsolved murders for viewers to solve. Many of the cases are based on real cases, but they are, alas (and thank goodness for the participants), fictional.  The purpose of the site is to show the methods investigators use to solve homicides.  Any resemblance to real persons is totally coincidental.

While it is not our intention to "trick" people, we do believe that most people who are interested in solving homicide cases would prefer the site not be set up like the typical mystery site with some sort of Sherlock Holmes figure donning a cape and magnifying glass posted on every page.  The idea was to make the process as close to the real thing as possible. All the forensic evidence and crime-solving techniques are based on those used in the solving of real crimes.

For real-life homicides, investigators will not release the kind of information found here.  It is difficult to participate in solving the cases because all you get is the victim's name and where they died. Rarely is there information on witnesses, suspects, and forensic evidence.  This site can give viewers an idea of the process of solving a crime and allow them to test their own skills at noticing details and important evidence.

We consider this a "Dramatic Series on the Web."  It is a police drama on the internet rather than on tv.  Viewers should approach the site as if it contains real cases of unsolved murders.  Your tips, clues, feedback, and impressions might help "solve" the case.  Anyone who contributes ideas that lead to interesting twists and turns in the case and the eventual solving of the case has the chance of winning this nifty mug:

Okay, the picture is not that great, but it looks great in real life!

As technology improves, so will this site.  We will soon have animations that show crime-scene re-creations, short videos of homicide scenes, and profiles of various investigators and scientists involved in the solving of cold cases.

We hope you enjoy your visits to "Unloved Crimes" and come back again and again....
