| Homicide
Investigators covering cold cases have an especially
difficult job. Trails have gone cold, evidence has
degraded. But time also gives them an advantage. Alibis
become enemies. Ex-wives and ex-partners once too loyal
to talk will give them an earful. Fearful witnesses will
sometimes feel that time has made them safe from
retribution. Cold case work is about persistence,
being close to the street, knowing how to scare up folks
who might be a little more inclined to speak now that
some time has passed. These men and women have a
special sense of duty. They are the only ones left to
speak for the silent witnesses: the victims of unsolved
murders. This section will profile homicide investigators, the techniques and theories they use to investigate a homicide, and anecdotes from the field. Check back soon.... |
